Make it stand out
Trinity Presbyterian Church was certified as an Earth Care Congregation by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in February 2024. The Earth Care Congregation certification is designed to recognize churches that make the commitment to take seriously God’s charge to “till and keep” the garden. To become an Earth Care Congregation, our congregation affirmed an Earth Care Pledge to integrate environmental practices and thinking into our worship, education, facilities, and outreach. Trinity is just one of the 2 churches in our denomination in the state of Arizona that have earned the Earth Care designation. We have been recertified for the current year.
Some activities our church has pursued during the past year to reaffirm our commitment included an outdoor worship experience at Watson Lake and a Spring Cantata focusing on Earth Care. Our children enjoyed a Vacation Bible School program centered on care and compassion of the Earth. Various projects we have done are expanding the garden area in the children’s play areas, installing a bicycle rack, and having a nature mural completed in the Children’s Sunday school area. In our facility, we have replaced HVAC units with energy efficient units, installed window blinds in our meeting room, and LED lighting to increase our energy efficiency. Our cleaning service is using more earth friendly products and at our Trinity Connections we had a walk on water conservation. We strive to recycle, limit the use of plastic water bottles, and use earth friendly products. We offer reusable coffee cups and utensils at Trinity celebration and fellowship events. Our Trinity Trekkers hiking group continues to enjoy nature on monthly hikes. Care of our planet continues to be the focus of several study groups such as two of the women circles who has studies on Earth Care and our Intersection Group did a study on climate change. Please contact the church office if you are interested in being part of our Earth Care efforts.
